Last month, the Muhlenberg Township Parks and Recreations Department hosted the first Muhlenberg River Adventure. Due to its success, the township is now planning a second event for September 12, 2020.
Spend a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River as parks and recreation staff guide paddlers from Leesport to Jim Dietrich Park.
According to event organizers, the group is scheduled to meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon, where participants will be given and overview of the day, then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at to gain access to the river.
Rental equipment will be provided by Blue Marsh Outdoors and includes kayak or canoe, paddles, and life jackets. Guests must provide their own transportation.
All participants are required to wear a life preserver and sign a waiver form. Organizers ask that participants wear appropriate water attire and water shoes for safety, sunscreen, a hat, and water.
Registration of equipment is available online at muhlenbergtwp.com under facility and program rentals from now until September 4, 2020.
