Reading Community Players is the oldest community theater group in Reading, active for 101 years. We have worked with the Reading School District, produce a children’s theater workshop every year ending with a production at the Miller Center, and have previously done activities on Penn street and at City Park.
The play being presented Mar 18, 19 and 20 is Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 and Sunday’s is a 3:00 matinee. The shows are being done at the George Baer Chapel, South 6th and Cherry Streets, Reading, Pennsylvania 19601. Information and tickets are available at Reading Community Players’ website readingcommplayers.com.
If you are not familiar with The Mousetrap, Mollie and Giles Ralston, new to the Country Inn scene, are opening Monkswell Manor to their first guests. As the audience quickly learns a winter storm is moving in and threatens to make all the guests snowbound.
In addition, the radio broadcaster announces the London police are looking for a murderer who slipped their dragnet after killing an older woman. After the guests have arrived, including a late unexpected arrival, the tension rises as personalities collide. The following day, a police sergeant arrives and begins to interrogate the guests suspecting that one of them is the person who had slipped the hunt in London.
