Berks Animal Rescue League Gives Tips to Keep Pets Safe on 4th of July

To bring awareness to the fact that more pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year, the Animal Rescue League of Berks County has compiled a list of 8 tips to help keep pets safe over holiday.

The first tip is to make sure your dog is wearing an up to date visual ID tag on the collar at all times. 2. Exercise your pets early before any parties begin. 3. If your dog is afraid of loud noises, leave gentle music playing to cover the fireworks.

4. During cookouts, ask guests to play with your dog away from any open flames. 5. Leave your dog at home with frozen stuffed treat during the fireworks. 6. Keep dog treats on hand for those who want to give your dog food.

7. Take a current photo of your pet just in case. 8. Keep Charcoal, fireworks, sparklers, and glow sticks far away from curious dogs.
