The Berks County Commissioners announced today that the final day for the county COVID-19 Help Center will be Friday, June 5. The closure of the Help Center coincides with the county’s transition into Governor Tom Wolf’s yellow phase.
The decision was made in response to the decrease in public questions and the county’s exit from the red phase into yellow. The COVID-19 Help Center was launched on March 19, 2020 to provide the public with resources to address a variety of issues that may arise as a result of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Health Emergency. Since opening, the center fielded more than 2554 calls and 769 emails from concerned Berks County residents.
“Berks County established the COVID-19 Help Center as a community resource for residents as the COVID-19 virus began,” said Commissioner Christian Leinbach.
“Now that the county is transitioning into the recovery phase, the demand for Help Center resources has dropped dramatically. We’re extremely pleased to see the center performed well in serving Berks County residents during this health crisis.”
