Law Enforcement Agencies Across Berks Celebrate National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. To celebrate, local Berks County Police agencies are hosting National Night Out events across the county.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.

Here are the National Night Out events happening in Berks County on Tuesday.

Northern Berks Regional Police 

Serving Ontelaunee, Leesport and Maidencreek communities, Northern Berks Regional Police is hosting National Night Out at Schuylkill Valley High School, 929 Lake Shore Dr, Leesport, PA 19533. Featuring music, food, games, bounce houses, sweet treats, the night concludes with a fireworks display at 9pm. Event is 6-9pm.

Central Berks Regional Police

Serving the Township of Lower Alsace and the Borough of Mount Penn, Central Berks Regional Police is hosting National Night Out at A-Fields, Intersection of Prospect Street and Byram Street. Featuring free refreshments, displays by local agencies, businesses, games, music, raffle prizes and more. Event is 6-9pm

Muhlenberg Township Police

Serving Muhlenberg Township, the Muhlenberg Township Police Department is hosting National Night Out at Jim Dietrich Park, 4899 Stoudts Ferry Bridge Rd, Reading, PA 19605. Featuring a kids coloring contest for a chance to win a new bicycle for our younger kids and vendors from throughout our community who will provide you with valuable information on ways to be safe.

The Muhlenberg Police Department will also have a display with crime prevention information, kids safety, ID Kits, and vehicles from the police fleet. Plus, the opportunity to ride the Drunk Busters pedal cart (with the Drunk Busters goggles).

The Muhlenberg Ambulance Association and the Goodwill Fire Co. will be doing a crash reconstruction complete with the Jaws of Life to cut a volunteer out of a car. The Temple Fire Co. will be on hand with their famous Fire Hose Target. Kids will be able to shoot an actual fire hose a pretend burning house. Event is 6-8:30pm.

Reading Police

Serving the City of Reading the Reading Police Department is hosting National Night Out at Schlegel Park Pool, 299 N Carroll St, Reading, PA 19611. Featuring hot dogs, music, food, fun, prizes. Event is 5-9pm.

Womelsdorf Borough Police 

Serving the Womelsdorf Borough, the Womelsdorf Borough Police Department is hosting National Night Out at Womelsdorf Town Park. Event is 6-9pm.

West Reading Borough Police

Serving the Borough of West Reading the West Reading Borough Police is hosting National Night Out at West Reading Park, 505 Sycamore Road. West Reading, PA 19611. Featuring food, games, and meet and interact West Reading Police Department Officers. Event is 5-9pm.
