Many municipalities in Berks County are beginning to re-open parks, playgrounds, and outdoor activities now that the county has moved into the green phase.

With restrictions relaxed, the Muhlenberg Township Parks and Recreations Department has announced they will be hosting the Muhlenberg River Adventure, Saturday, July 18, 2020.

Inviting the community to spend a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River, parks and recreation staff will guide paddlers from Leesport to Jim Dietrich Park.

According to event organizers, the group is scheduled to meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon, where participants will be given and overview of the day, then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at to gain access to the river.

Rental equipment will be provided by Blue Marsh Outdoors and includes kayak or canoe, paddles, and life jackets. Guests must provide their own transportation.

All participants are required to wear a life preserver and sign a waiver form. Organizers ask that participants wear appropriate water attire and water shoes for safety, sunscreen, a hat, and water.
