The Reading Fair, a tradition that dates back 165 years, announced Tuesday that it is officially re-branding itself The Berks County Fair following the past two years of various changes.
“We faced economic challenges, a changing view of county fairs, leadership changes and unfortunate weather circumstances.” reads a post from their Facebook page.
“However, all of that being said. We are optimistic. Optimistic about our future and the plans our membership has to continue to provide the community of Berks County a safe location to have fun, make memories and learn about where your food comes from.”
With the name change, all of the former events such as bingo, the Wine Festival and fair will now carry the new name. The Berks County Fair Vera Bradley and Yankee Candle Bingo will be held on March 1st. The Berks County Fair Wine Festival will be held June 27th and the Berks County Fair will be August 2nd-7th.
“We chose to make this name change as we adjust our mission of our organization to center around agricultural education for the community and a place for the youth in agriculture to thrive.”
The Berks County Fair also plans to have a few small rides on-site this year. However, they will be more closely related to small train rides etc, not typical carnival rides.
“The things you know and love about the bingo and wine festival have not changed and we are enthusiastic about what we plan to bring you for our 2020 fair.”
