United Face Lehigh Valley United To Close Regular Season

After clinching the Mid Atlantic Division championship and punching their ticket into the postseason, Reading United will play host Lehigh Valley United for their last regular season match on Sunday, July 14th. Reading looks to keep their 25-game unbeaten streak at Gurski Stadium in tact with a victory at their friendly confines.

The two teams previously met to begin their season at Cedar Crest College, with Reading putting in two goals early, before coughing up the lead before halftime, then dominating the second half in a 5-2 victory. Alban Rousselet’s 4th minute goal started the season with a bang and Simon Becher’s brace polished off the road victory.

Reading is coming off of their 25th consecutive regular season game at home without a loss, taking a 3-2 victory against the newly-formed Cedar Stars Rush. Reading dumped in three goals in the first 18 minutes of play, before hanging on for the one goal victory.

Lehigh Valley notched a surprising 2-2 draw against New York Red Bulls U23 on Wednesday, to push them into fifth place in the division. Lehigh has shown to be a tougher opponent than previous years, already notching 15 points in their 2019 season, a vast improvement over their 5 point, last place finish in 2018.

Reading will be back at Gurski Stadium for a friendly match against Philadelphia Union on Tuesday, July 16th for the annual Union Festival at Gurski Stadium. The entire Philadelphia Union first team will be in attendance playing and signing autographs for fans. Union Festival tickets are $10 both online and at the gate.
