Ramp lane restrictions, utility work: PennDOT upcoming roadwork Apr. 22, 2024

PennDOT maintenance forces and private contractors have scheduled several construction projects in Berks County this week. To help our readers avoid travel delays, here are a few of the most notable projects.

Greenwich Township, on Interstate 78 between Exit 35 (PA 143) and Exit 45 (PA 863), construction work is underway by a PennDOT Contractor, resulting in nighttime lane restrictions in both directions. Please use caution. The work began on 4/21/24 and is scheduled to finish on 4/22/24, with restrictions in effect from 07:00 PM to 06:00 AM. Rain will not cause delays.

Ruscombmanor Township, at the intersection of PA 12 and PA 73, utility work is ongoing by a Local Utility, leading to daytime lane restrictions for utility relocation work. The project started on 4/22/24 and is expected to conclude on 4/26/24, with restrictions from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain will not cause delays.

Bethel Township, on Interstate 78 between Exit 23 (Shartlesville) and Exit 16 (Midway), construction work by a PennDOT Contractor is causing nighttime lane restrictions, with delays expected and caution advised. The project began on 4/21/24 and is set to finish on 4/26/24, with restrictions in place from 07:00 PM to 06:00 AM. Rain may cause delays.

Cumru Township, on US 422 between I-176 and E. Neversink Road, inspection work is scheduled with eastbound lane restriction on 05/07 and westbound lane restriction on 05/08, both during daytime hours from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain will cause delays.

Washington Township, on PA 100 between Mill Street and Chestnut Street, PennDOT Maintenance Forces are conducting shoulder work in both directions during daytime hours from 07:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain will cause delays.

The City of Reading, on US 422 between Penn Avenue and Lancaster Avenue, lane closures are in place in the eastbound direction for maintenance work by PennDOT Maintenance Forces. Delays are expected, and caution is advised. The project is scheduled from 4/22/24 to 4/26/24, with restrictions from 07:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

Bethel Township, on PA 645/Camp Swatara Road between Lebanon County Line and Schuylkill County Line, drainage work is ongoing by PennDOT Maintenance Forces, causing lane restrictions in both directions with flagging during daytime hours from 07:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

Womelsdorf Borough, on PA 419 between Lebanon County Line and US 422, lane restrictions in both directions with flagging are in place due to maintenance work by PennDOT Maintenance Forces. Expect delays during daytime hours from 07:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

Tilden Township, on PA 61 between Schuylkill County Line and Tuckerton Road, sweeping work is underway by PennDOT Maintenance Forces, resulting in a lane closure in the southbound direction during daytime hours from 07:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

US 422 between Broadcasting Road Exit and Montgomery County Line, sweeping work is being conducted by PennDOT Maintenance Forces with a nighttime shoulder restriction in the westbound direction from 07:00 PM to 05:30 AM. Rain may cause delays.

West Brunswick Township, on Route 61 South between Brick Hill Road and Village Lane, lane restrictions are in place for utility work by a local permittee during daytime hours from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Delays are expected, and caution is advised. The work is being performed by a contractor for Forino Homes under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

Amity Township, on US 422 between Monocacy Hill Road and Rega Lane, lane restriction is in effect for shoulder work/widening related to highway occupancy permit work by a local permittee during daytime hours from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. Rain will not cause delays.
