4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival to be held Saturday in Reading

The 4th Annual Berks Street Art Festival, “Kindness & Creativity,” presented by The Camel Project, will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center located. The rain date for the event is May 11, 2024.

The Berks Street Art Festival is an outdoor family fun day filled with art, interactive activities, music, and food. Festival-goers of all ages are encouraged to show off their chalk art talent by drawing on the paved areas at the event. Free chalk will be provided to the first two hundred who register.

Admission, parking, performances, and activities are free. Various food and beverage items will be available for purchase.

Featured performances include magician Jose Joel Delgado, Durty Rotten Parrots trio, and Whispers of Hope dance group. Strolling performers include Reading Police K-9 and Disney Cosplayers Care.

There will also be day-long activities and interactive art demonstrations for adults and children, including Wacki Patti Balloon Fun, face painting, and community dancing. The Transportation Art Car Show, featuring classic and exotic cars, will be a part of the Festival again this year. New this year is a special visit by baby goats from Steinmetz Family Farm.

In addition, more than forty vendors and community-based organizations will be participating in the event. More information about the event can be found at thecamelproject.org.

“We need a day for youth and adults to balance their emotions with chalk art and hands-on experiences,” said Pamela Gockley, Executive Director of The Camel Project. “This festival provides an opportunity for people of all backgrounds and ages to connect and have fun through the arts.”

The Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center is located at 2615 Warren Rd, Reading, PA.

The mission of The Camel Project is to empower individuals and organizations to recognize and change the culture of bullying and unacceptable behaviors that result in violence, trauma, and abuse through education, advocacy, and support.
