Lily’s Vineyard Celebrating Grand Opening with Curbside Pickup

For licensed vintners Larry and Tina Lill, recognizing their long-held dream of opening their own winery is the fruition of a family partnership. Nestled in the lush greenery of Skyline Drive in Reading, the location of Lily’s Vineyard has been in the Lill family for many years.

Larry and Tina purchased the property from his aunts to ensure that it stayed in the family, and they have spent the last several years transforming it into the serene location it has now become.

Their two daughters, Rachel and Sheila, also help out with the business in many important ways.

Lily’s Vineyard is unique in a special way: they specialize in fruit wines. While they are planning on making wine next year from the 250 grape vines that they recently planted, they are currently debuting their award-winning apple, pear, peach, blueberry, and cherry wines (their dry cherry wine won the Grand Champion Award at the Oley Fair).

According to the menu on their website, Lily’s offers a sweet and a dry option of each type of wine, as well as a sweet Spiced Apple option. Larry shared that they both grow their own fruit for their wines onsite, and receive much of it from a friend who owns neighboring Skyline Drive Orchard.

The pandemic has not stopped the Lill family from planning spectacular events this year as they introduce their wines to the community.

Their Grand Opening on August 1-2, 2020, 11am to 5pm, will feature curbside pickup of their wines. They are also in the process of planning and scheduling an outdoor event, featuring food trucks and live music, to bring people out to safely socialize.

“Outside events are going to be a big thing,” said Larry. “People can buy a bottle, a glass, a flight of four different wines to try.”

Tina also shared that four years ago, they hosted an Edgar Allan Poe benefit at the winery in partnership with Antietam School District–they had live music, live plays featuring the Antietam Theatre department, food and wine.

They are excited to plan more events like this for the community, and once COVID-19 restrictions ease, introduce people to the beautiful barn on their property.

Lily’s Vineyard is located at 110 Skyline Dr, Reading, PA 19606. For a list of wines, call 610-763-3314 or visit: lilyswine.com.
