Berks Encore Mifflin Center is gearing up for a delightful event that promises to combine nostalgia, community spirit, and generosity. On Friday, November 10, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, the center will host a Sock Hop for Seniors, turning back the clock to the 1950s for an afternoon of fun and giving.
Seniors eager to attend this unique event have a special admission ticket – a pair of new socks. These socks will not only grant entry but will also contribute to a heartwarming cause. All collected socks will be donated to Mary’s Shelter, located at 615 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading. Mary’s Shelter is a vital agency addressing pregnancy, parenting, and youth homelessness through a range of supportive services.
The festivities don’t stop there. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere with DJ Ted spinning hits from the 1950s, and Marian offering dance lessons to keep the crowd on their feet. The bingo hall will be open for those feeling lucky, and 50/50 and basket raffles will add an element of excitement to the day.
To fuel the celebration, lunch and specialty drinks will be provided, creating a perfect setting for socializing and enjoying the company of fellow seniors. The organizers extend their gratitude to the Berks County Area Agency on Aging and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging for their support in making this event possible.
