Man loses $50K in Publishers Clearing House scam, State Police investigating

The Pennsylvania State Police Reading Barracks is investigating a Publishers Clearing House scam that took place recently in Penn Township.

Troopers were dispatched on August 6, 2022 at 1:48pm to a residence on Tobias Road to investigate a theft.

According to a public information report, Troopers discovered that the actor(s) had posed as representatives of Publishers Clearing House and deceived the victim, a 73 year-old man, into sending them $50,000.

The victim sent the actor(s) $50,000 of checks in the mail, subsequently debited from the victim’s account.
