State police investigating $68K bank fraud case in Upper Bern Township

Pennsylvania State Police in Hamburg are investigating a large-scale theft and fraud case in which a victim’s bank accounts were drained of more than $68,000.

According to police, the incident was reported on July 25 at 2:44 p.m. in Upper Bern Township. Investigators said the 41-year-old female victim from Mohrsville discovered multiple fraudulent transactions on her bank accounts.

In addition to the stolen funds, police said the suspect also counterfeited or forged a Pennsylvania driver’s license in connection with the scheme.

The case is being investigated as theft by deception and impersonation. Authorities have not released information about any potential suspects.
