Wyomissing police provide update on traffic stop and burglary investigation

The Wyomissing Police Department released information this week regarding two separate incidents, a traffic stop that led to a foot pursuit and a reported burglary investigation.

According to police, the first incident occurred during the early morning hours of January 13, at approximately 1:50 a.m., when officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Penn Avenue. During the stop, one individual fled on foot. Officers from Wyomissing and surrounding jurisdictions established a perimeter covering the 1200 block of Penn Avenue, Delaware Avenue, and the 00 block of Wyomissing Boulevard.

Police said the individual was later apprehended. Following the arrest, officers searched the area where the individual fled to determine whether any items had been discarded, but no items were located at that time. Residents in the area are being asked to remain alert and to contact police if they discover any suspected contraband on their property. Police advised that such items should not be touched and should be reported immediately so officers can safely retrieve them.

The second incident took place on Wednesday, January 14, at approximately 3:30 p.m., when officers were dispatched to a burglar alarm at a residence in the 1800 block of Reading Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers observed evidence of forced entry into the home. A perimeter was established and a thorough search of the residence was conducted, but no individuals were found inside.

Wyomissing police are asking residents in the surrounding area, or anyone who may have been in the area at the time, to contact the department if they observed any suspicious people or vehicles, or if they have video footage that may have captured relevant activity.
