Total Experience Learning coursework sparks classroom experience with local retired NFL Quarterback Chad Henne at Green Valley Elementary

Students in the Autistic Support classroom at Green Valley Elementary participated in a unique, real-world learning experience this week when retired NFL quarterback and Wilson School District alum Chad Henne visited as part of educator Laura Mattiuz’s lesson redesign assignment for the Total Experience Learning (TExpL) graduate program at Alvernia University.

As part of the activity, Mattiuz transformed her classroom into a mock press conference. Each student prepared and asked Henne two interview questions, engaging directly with him about his collegiate and professional football career. The experience gave students the opportunity to practice communication skills, build confidence, and interact with an authentic community stakeholder.

Henne’s visit exemplifies the TExpL model, which integrates stakeholder participation to enrich instruction and connect academic work with community voices and perspectives.

The Wilson School District and TExpL teams extend their appreciation to Chad Henne for his time, encouragement, and positive impact on students.
