Twin Valley senior selected to represent Pennsylvania in U.S. Senate Youth Program

A Twin Valley High School senior has been selected to represent Pennsylvania in the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP), earning a trip to Washington, D.C., and a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship.

Sloane Wolfe, a senior at Twin Valley High School, was named one of Pennsylvania’s two delegates to the 64th annual USSYP Washington Week, scheduled for March 7–14, 2026. Wolfe will join fellow Pennsylvania delegate Sagar Raghavan in representing the state alongside U.S. Sens. John Fetterman and Dave McCormick.

The program brings together 104 high school students from across the country—two from each state, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity—for an intensive, week-long study of the federal government. Delegates participate in meetings with U.S. senators, the president, a Supreme Court justice, and other senior government officials. Each participant also receives a $10,000 college scholarship intended to encourage continued study in government, history, and public affairs.

At Twin Valley High School, Wolfe serves as president of the National Honor Society. Her civic involvement includes work with the American Civil Liberties Union on student free speech issues and participation in forums hosted by organizations such as the ACLU, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, and the Council on International Educational Exchange Seville.

Wolfe has been recognized as a National Distinguished Student Leader by the National Association of Student Councils and serves as a regional representative and executive board member for the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils. She is also active in the performing arts as a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the International Thespian Society, currently serving her second term as a State Thespian Officer.

In addition to her academic and extracurricular achievements, Wolfe is an AP Scholar with Honor, a Coca-Cola Scholars Semifinalist, a recipient of the College Board Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, and the winner of the Roger Taylor “4-Way Test” Rotary Speech Contest. She serves as a legislative intern and national presenter for Students4 Good, has organized voter registration drives, works as a translator with the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and is employed part-time as a waitress.

A dedicated fencer and tenth-generation Pennsylvanian, Wolfe plans to major in industrial labor and relations or public policy in college and aspires to pursue a career in public service.

USSYP delegates and alternates are selected by state departments of education following nominations by teachers and principals, with final selections confirmed by each state’s chief school officer. Pennsylvania’s 2026 delegates and alternates were designated by Acting Secretary of Education Carrie Rowe.

The United States Senate Youth Program was established in 1962 to encourage talented young people to consider careers in public service. The program is fully funded by The Hearst Foundations, with no government funds used.
