Wyomissing Holiday Lights Fun Runs & Walks Return in December

Wyomissing’s neighborhoods will soon be aglow with festive cheer as the Borough’s Department of Parks & Recreation prepares to host the annual Holiday Lights Fun Runs & Walks this December.

The seasonal tradition invites residents and visitors alike to don their best holiday attire — from Santa suits and reindeer sweaters to gingerbread onesies and cozy pajamas — and enjoy an evening run or walk under twinkling lights.

“Every year this event gets a little bigger, a little brighter, and a lot more fun,” said Randy McKinley, Wyomissing’s Director of Recreation & Communications. “You’ll see Santas jogging with reindeer, gingerbread people waving at cars, and families laughing their way through the neighborhoods. It’s the kind of small-town magic that makes Wyomissing feel straight out of a holiday movie — and knowing that we’re also helping local families through Helping Harvest makes it all the more meaningful.”

This year’s series will feature three themed nights, each beginning with registration at 5:30 p.m. and a 6:00 p.m. start:

  • Wednesday, December 3 – Berkshire Heights Playground – Ugly Sweaters Night
  • Wednesday, December 10 – Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park – Holiday Onesies Night
  • Wednesday, December 17 – Wyomissing High School Parking Lot – Holiday Pajamas Night

Each evening will include prizes for the best-dressed participants, with giveaways for those who complete all three events provided by Fleet Feet.

Jason Colby of Fleet Feet said the runs and walks are about more than fitness. “We love being part of this event because it’s about more than just running. It’s about community — people getting outside, moving together, laughing together, and just having fun. And if you can do all that while wearing a Santa suit or holiday pajamas? Even better.”

In keeping with the season of giving, organizers encourage participants to bring non-perishable food items to support Helping Harvest Food Bank. Donations will help provide meals and pantry staples to families across Berks and Schuylkill Counties.

For residents looking to combine festive fun with community spirit, Wyomissing’s Holiday Lights Fun Runs & Walks offer a way to celebrate the season while supporting neighbors in need.
