The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is set to install a groundwater monitoring well at Angelica Creek Park in Reading. This project is part of a nationwide initiative to monitor and protect underground aquifers, a critical natural resource.
The well installation, which will take place from November 18th to November 28th, will provide essential data on aquifer health, contributing to both national and statewide efforts to understand groundwater quality and availability. The information gathered will be crucial for scientists, environmental planners, and water utility managers aiming to preserve groundwater for future generations.
Angelica Creek Park will remain open during the project, but visitors are urged to avoid the work site for everyone’s safety.
Once operational, the well will deliver real-time data, accessible through the USGS National Water Dashboard at dashboard.waterdata.usgs.gov. This tool provides a comprehensive view of water conditions across the country, including groundwater, streamflow, and water quality.
