The Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the evening of November 9th, 2023 at the intersection of PA-183/Bernville Rd and Old State Rd in Penn Township.
According to a State Police Public Information Report, the incident, which took place at approximately 5:19 PM, involved two vehicles. Unit #1, traveling northbound on PA-183, crossed the double yellow line, leading to a collision with Unit #2, which was traveling southbound on the same road.
65-year-old Seamus Loughran from Pottsville City, operator of Unit #2, was declared deceased at the scene by Joel Bonilla of the Berks County Coroner’s office.
Meanwhile, the driver of Unit #1 and the front seat passenger of Unit #2 were both transported by EMS to Reading Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The investigation, assisted by Troop L Collision and Reconstruction Specialists and Forensic Services, is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
