The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks has announced a celebration honoring the 30-year tenure of Executive Director Ryan Breisch at its “Turning Dreams into Reality” breakfast. The event will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Reading.
The Council will also present its prestigious “Leader for Literacy” award to Reading Area Community College, Connections Work, and Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation. These organizations have demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the Literacy Council’s mission to empower individuals with essential communication skills, enabling them to contribute to their families, workplaces, and community.
The “Leader for Literacy” award winners were selected by Executive Director Ryan Breisch, who has fostered meaningful relationships between these institutions and the Literacy Council. The notable partnerships include:
- A four-decade collaboration with Reading Area Community College (RACC) to provide adult basic education and English as a Second Language (ESL) services to adults in Berks County.
- The Level Up program, which offers 20 hours of ESL and GED support weekly at Connections Work, empowering justice-involved individuals to overcome educational barriers.
- A partnership with Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation’s Tec Centro, providing ESL and occupational training to support English language development and workplace skills.
During the event, former students of Executive Director Ryan Breisch will share personal testimonials about the impact of the Literacy Council’s programs on their lives.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the power of workforce development and community partnership. It’s an honor to be recognized for my tenure at the Council, but it’s an even greater honor to recognize our outstanding partners and share the impact of our work in empowering individuals to reach their full potential,” said Ryan A. Breisch, Executive Director of the Literacy Council.
