The Berks County Chiefs of Police Association has honored six members of Penn State Health Medical Group – Robesonia Family Medicine with the 2024 Citizens Award, recognizing their courageous actions during a serious motor vehicle crash in August 2024.
The award was presented during the association’s meeting on June 17, 2025, in acknowledgment of the team’s swift and selfless response to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Big Spring Road, just outside their office.
According to the authorities, both drivers involved in the August 29 crash were ejected from their vehicles. Despite dangerous conditions—including a vehicle fire and heavy rush hour traffic—the medical staff rushed from their clinic to the scene and began administering critical care until emergency responders arrived.
One of the drivers later died from their injuries, but the they emphasized the significance of the team’s efforts to save lives under pressure.
“Their rapid response, compassion, and dedication to the well-being of our community are truly commendable,” said South Heidelberg Township Police in a post celebrating the group. “Their actions embody the spirit of the Conrad Weiser community and the highest ideals of civic duty and community service.”
