Pennsylvania American Water issues mandatory conservation notice for customers in eastern Berks

Pennsylvania American Water issued a mandatory water conservation order for approximately 9,500 customers in its Glen Alsace water system in Berks County Friday morning. This notice applies to Pennsylvania American Water customers in Exeter, Ruscombmanor and Amity townships. Customers are asked to temporarily limit their water use to essential purposes only, with a targeted reduction of 10-15% until further notice.

The mandatory conservation order follows a voluntary conservation notice issued on Wednesday, October 23 and a reduction in the system’s raw water sources. The order is in accordance with the company’s drought contingency plan, as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s recently issued for Berks and Schuylkill counties.
