A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a freight train Saturday near Janice Lane in Heidelberg Township.
The incident took place at 5:24pm and was initially called in by Norfolk Southern. The Berks County Coroner’s office was called to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

Authorities say the victim was a 38-year-old man who was struck by a train traveling westbound.
No other injuries were reported.
