Red Cross opens Shelter for Berks Residents Evacuated due to Flooding

The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania has opened a shelter for Berks County residents evacuated due to flooding. The shelter is located at Wilson High School, 2601 Grandview Boulevard, West Lawn.

Red Cross officials say Berks County residents should follow local guidance and evacuate when ordered to do so. If you are in need of Red Cross assistance please call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).

Heavy rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Ida caused flash flooding Wednesday afternoon, leaving some Berks residents no choice but to evacuate their home.

This was the case in Wyomissing, where residents at the Cambridge Commons Apartment complex were forced to evacuate after flash flooding from Wyomissing Creek spilled into several buildings.
