Registration is now open for the Pennsylvania State Police Troop L Camp Cadet Program, an annual overnight summer camp that gives youth an introduction to life at a police academy.
The program will be held June 21 through June 27, 2026, at Camp Manatawny in Douglassville. It is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 15, with the first 100 registrants guaranteed a spot.
According to state police, Camp Cadet is designed to introduce participants to the criminal justice system while building positive relationships between law enforcement and young people. Cadets will stay overnight at the camp and participate in a structured environment modeled after the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
Throughout the week, participants will attend presentations from municipal, state and federal law enforcement agencies and take part in activities focused on teamwork, honesty, integrity, discipline and self-esteem. The program also aims to help cadets develop decision-making skills and gain a better understanding of what it takes to pursue a career as a police officer.
Camp Manatawny is located at 33 Camp Road in Douglassville, Berks County.
Registration materials are available through the Troop L Camp Cadet website at pacampcadettroopl.com. View application here.
