The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On 3/11/2026, Tony’s Pizza Shop, located at 6 W Franklin St, Topton, PA 19562, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Floors throughout the food facility below equipment is observed with excessive debris and in need of cleaning. Non-food contact surfaces of pizza dress station are not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of food debris.
On 3/11/2026, Fleetwood Pizza, located at 34 W Main St, Fleetwood, PA 19522, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed mixer equipment and shelving in the prep area, with an accumulation of food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Floor area below the equipment in the prep/cooking area was observed with excessive debris and in need of cleaning.
On 3/11/2026, Countryside Fries and More Leesport Farmers Market, located at Leesport Farmers Market, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. There is an accumulation of grease/dirt on the floor under the fryers.
On 3/11/2026, China III, located at 319 Furnace St, Birdsboro, PA 19508, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed some bags of food stored directly on the floor in the dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed a build-up of grease and old food debris on the floor near the fryers and on the side of the adjacent refrigerator. Observed an accumulation of dirt/debris on the floor and shelves throughout the facility. Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent activity in kitchen and storage areas.
On 3/11/2026, Bixler’s Country Meats Leesport Farmers Market, located at Leesport Farmers Market, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: A light bulb in one of the display cases is missing the protective plastic tubing/end caps.
On 3/12/2026, Turkey Hill Minit Market #292, located at 2432 Morgantown Rd, Reading, PA 19607, was inspected and found with the following violation: Mops are not being hung to air dry. Observed pints of ice cream stored directly on the floor in walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Corrected.
On 3/12/2026, Subway, located at 214 Crossing Blvd, Elverson, PA 19520, was inspected and found with the following violation: Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the walk-in cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view.
On 3/12/2026, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, located at 900 Crossings Blvd, Elverson, PA 19520, was inspected and found with the following violation: Biscuits in the refrigerator area stored open with no covering. Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the refrigerator, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Corrected. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the refrigerator, is not being date marked. Corrected. Observed in-use utensils stored in dipper well without continuous flow of water. Corrected. Single-use lids not stored inverted to protect from contamination. Corrected. Observed a buildup of apparent slime in the drain and on the drain hose of the self-service soda machine.
On 3/12/2026, Mofongo Restaurant, located at 124 S 5th St, Reading, PA 19602, was inspected and found with the following violation: Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the refrigerator, is not being date marked. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in refrigerated equipment. Raw chicken was stored above raw beef, in the refrigerator. Several raw animal foods were stored above ready to eat foods. Raw Food(s) in the refrigerator area stored open with no covering. The handwash sink located in the customer restroom area does not have water at a temperature of at least 100°F.(88.5)
On 3/13/2026, Wal-Mart Supercenter #3501, located at 100 Crossings Blvd, Elverson, PA 19520, was inspected and found with the following violation: Fan grate in dairy cooler observed to have a buildup of dust. Corrected. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed hand wash sink leaking at the base in the deli service area.

On 3/13/2026, Massimos Take Out Pizza & Grill, located at 100 Anna Ave, Blandon, PA 19510, was inspected and found with the following violation: The handwash sink in the prep/cooking area was blocked by a plastic container and not accessible at all times for employee use. Corrected.
On 3/13/2026, Leesport Diner, located at 5407 Pottsville Pike, Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: This facility was listed as out of compliance. Observed wet wiping cloths at the cooking line not being stored in sanitizer solution. Corrected. Observed in-use knives stored between table edges and the wall at the upstairs food preparation area, an area not easily cleaned & sanitized. Corrected. Food items observed thawing at room temperature on the floor under shelving in the kitchen food preparation area, which is not an approved thawing method. Corrected. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the large bain marie unit at the end of the cooking line. Corrected. There is an accumulation of dirt, old food debris, and trash on the floor under equipment/shelves in the kitchen. Observed standing water on the floor under the shelving in the basement food storage area. There is food storage and a food preparation table has been added in the basement, however the ceiling in the basement has exposed insulation. The insulation is a source of potential contamination. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the kitchen area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Double doors located at the stairs leading from the kitchen to the basement of the food facility have a gap at the bottom and do not protect against the entry of pests. The slicer in the basement, a food contact surface, was observed to have dried food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected. The interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Observed an accumulation of loose dust/dirt on some of the ceiling tiles above the cooking line. Lights are not shielded or shatter proof over the food preparation area in the basement and at one end of the cooking line.

On 3/14/2026, Go Fish, located at 2934 N 5th St, Reading, PA 19605, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed dust/dirt on floor in harder to reach places between equipment and around “feet” of equipment. Single use consumer eating utensils are stored with food contact surfaces / food or lip area exposed to hand contact when retrieved by food employees. Corrected on inspection. On 3/16/2026, Blue Spruce Roadside Market, located at 4401 Conrad Weiser Pkwy, Womelsdorf, PA 19567, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility does not have available quaternary or chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the three-compartment sink and the dish machine. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Corrected.
On 3/17/2026, Wendy’s #19305, located at 4820 Penn Ave, Sinking Spring, PA 19608, was inspected and found with the following violation: Chili was held at 121°F, in the drive thru and cookline area food warmers, rather than 135°F or above as required. Correcting, food is being reheated to 165°F. Soda nozzle, a food contact surface, was observed to have pink mold and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected. The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay ware wash sink was 0 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. System is not pulling sanitizer up from the bag. Please call for service and use packets of sanitizer until the system can be fixed.
On 3/17/2026, Soulful Eats, located at 615 Penn Ave, Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violation: New food facility does not yet employ a certified food employee as required. Food facility does not have the correct type of sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the 3-compartment sink.
On 3/17/2026, Fiore’s Chill-N-Grill Cafe, located at 833 Park Rd, Blandon, PA 19510, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired 2/11/2025 and is no longer valid. This is a repeat violation. Please renew the certificate. Food employees observed in the cookline area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Corrected.
On 3/18/2026, Turkey Hill Minit Market #195, located at 3248 Morgantown Rd, Mohnton, PA 19540, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed the handwash sink in the back area to have a broken seal and pulling away from the wall creating an area that is not easily cleanable. Food facility is using an approved non-public water system, but does not have current laboratory testing results for water potability.
