The Residence at Boyertown senior community scheduled to open in 2026

A new senior living community is set to open in Colebrookdale Township in early 2026, bringing more than 100 jobs and 126 apartments designed for independent living, personal care, and memory care.

The Residence at Boyertown, operated by Weathervane Senior Living, is scheduled to open in February 2026. The three-story, 131,000-square-foot facility will be located off Montgomery Avenue at Swamp Creek and Moser Lane. Once fully staffed, the development is expected to employ about 100 people.

The building will include 54 independent living units, 50 personal care units, and 22 memory care units. Month-to-month leasing will allow residents to transition between levels of care without leaving the community.

Executive Director Nicole Groff said the project is intended to provide seniors with a modern environment that adapts as their needs change. “This community will provide a modern, welcoming environment for seniors, with care options that allow residents to stay under one roof even as their needs change,” Groff said.

The facility will include an emergency call system and accessibility technology, along with amenities such as daily meal service, housekeeping, and recreational and social programs for personal care residents. Independent living residents will have access to social activities while staff handle daily services.

Sales Director Vicki Kriczky said the independent living portion is designed to give seniors freedom while still offering a sense of connection. “While our team handles daily responsibilities, residents are free to pursue their passions, stay active and build meaningful friendships, all in a setting that feels like home,” she said.

Demographic data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows a growing need for senior housing in the region. Nearly 19 percent of residents in both Berks and Montgomery counties are age 65 or older. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, about 8,600 Berks County residents over 65 are living with Alzheimer’s, underscoring the demand for memory care services.

Terri Sanelli, regional director of operations for Weathervane, said the new Boyertown community is part of a broader effort to expand options for older residents in the region. “It represents a commitment to seniors and their families throughout Berks County and the surrounding region,” she said.

The Residence at Boyertown is expected to open its doors in February 2026.
