Spring City man killed in late-night crash on Route 422 in Exeter Township

A 34-year-old Spring City man was killed in a motor vehicle crash late Wednesday night on Route 422 in Exeter Township, according to police.

Exeter Township Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 11:06 p.m. on Dec. 17 to a crash in the westbound lanes of the 7000 block of Benjamin Franklin Highway (Route 422). The crash involved a Kia Forte that rear-ended a tractor-trailer.

Police said the Kia was occupied by two individuals. The passenger was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Kia was identified as Darren Andrew Gregory Rosenberger, 34, of Spring City, Pennsylvania, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Exeter Township Police crash reconstructionists responded and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Westbound lanes of Route 422 were closed for several hours to allow for the investigation and scene processing.
