After living and working in education in New York City, Vienna, Austria, and New Jersey, Samantha Bremekamp arrived on the scene in Berks County, bringing along her brand of energy and enthusiasm for learning. “We moved here in 2023 after living in New Jersey. I wanted to get to know people in the area, so I created a TV show and a persona through BCTV called ‘Sam Splains The World’. On the show we go on field trips, visiting artists, bakers, farmers; people who are doing really cool things and we learn all about them.”
Samantha began her career in academia running international programs, and directing departments as Assistant Director at NYU School of Law. Changing fields still in education, Samantha went for her Master’s and graduated with both a teaching license and librarian license. Working as both a public and school librarian-innovation teacher she was hand picked and trained by National Geographic. They flew her to Jackson Hole in northwest Wyoming, twelve miles south of Grand Teton National Park. From there she traveled all over the country, representing them in the field, at conferences, at the Teton Science School, and at Grand Teton National Park, teaching workshops for educators as a visual storyteller.
“My training was during the summer of 2018, and then I did major year-long projects with my students and explorers in the field for the next five years. The greatest thing was showing kids all of the cool fields they could go into. I paired them with NASA Artemis, where they suited up at NASA headquarters, spoke with engineers, scientists and designers, and turned these experiences into lessons and units. I was able to inspire my young students by experiencing things and becoming a part of it, and it really made a difference.”
I once again continued my education moving to Vienna, Austria, and gaining another degree at the University of Vienna. After moving here, Samantha was able to duplicate these learning experiences through her TV show ‘Sam‘Splains The World’. “I love learning things, and I really missed the field trips, so the show focuses on learning through exploring. We recently visited Tom Sturgis and learned all about making pretzels, and visited a French café in Reading where the owner’s dream has become a reality, and she is someone who is getting a lot of attention. I love making friends and helping lift others. It gives me a sense of hope to meet people and share the joy of learning from each other through my show. It is a way to connect with the community and make friends along the way.”
While getting to know her community and exploring her way around, Samantha visited local radio station WEEU for a Sam’Splains episode. Samantha enjoyed the experience at the station which had just changed hands to new ownership. “So I sent them an email explaining that I had a great time visiting and wanted to be part of what they were doing. I sent them an application, and got a text that they’d love to bring me on board and give me the freedom to bring in guests of my choosing for a weekly radio version of Sam’Splains the World. It was a dream come true, extending my love of connecting with the community, learning from others, and giving a new platform to those who need it. I am now the producer for the WEEU Feedback show with host Toni Reese. We have a whole new slew of listeners and guests who we want to showcase to celebrate local people and how they make an impact on the community. Toni Reese began hosting the Feedback Show on January 19, 2026. The show airs weekdays from 10:00 to noon. I also host the Redner’s Market WEEU Cooking Show, “Food for Thought,” with the amazing Meredith McGrath.”
The new radio show allows Samantha to further her life’s work. “It is in complete alignment with my mission, and it fuels my soul. By giving other people the spotlight, it connects the community in a way that might otherwise get overlooked. This work is centered around the very people that make up Berks County and the surrounding area. The whole point of the show is to provide a platform for people who may never get credit for things or who have gone through very crazy things and are using their experience to help others.”
Samantha believes that her brand of public interaction is important for the community. “I think that people are desperate for it. At one time everything was more localized, but now it seems that the conglomerates focus less and less locally. It is very cool finding new ways to connect which are beautiful, needed and necessary for growing in an organic way.”
Samantha has certainly made many friends and connections since becoming a Berks county resident in 2023. One of her most rewarding experiences thus far has been the neighborhood where she lives. “We moved into this magical neighborhood where all different types and ages of people live. We love it so much! This is so funny, I have always been a dog person. We got a dog, so when everyone asks me how I know everyone, I have to say I never met a greater connector than having a dog. We talk to everyone!”
