Second Berks Heim Resident Dies from COVID-19

In a continued commitment to transparency, Berks County Commissioner Chair Christian Leinbach announced today that a 95-year-old female resident on the B3 unit who had displayed symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19 on April 23, 2020 passed away earlier today, April 28, 2020.

The Berks County Commissioners offer their condolences to the family and friends of a second Berks Heim resident to die as a result of the COVID-19 virus.

“We continue to focus on the health and safety of our residents and staff.” Leinbach said. “These efforts do not make this loss any easier for family or friends and our prayers are with the family of this lady.”

Berks Heim continues to take precautions including monitoring of temperatures, monitoring symptoms and following recommended guidelines to restrict access as necessary based on CDC (Centers for Disease Control), CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and the PA Department of Health standards.

All staff are wearing isolation/surgical masks. Berks Heim continues to be closed to general visitors.
