Blue Mash Lake to temporary close Dry Brooks Boat Launch for geophysical survey work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Blue Marsh Lake are advising visitors of a temporary closure of the Dry Brooks Boat Launch and trail area from Wednesday, August 16, 2023 through Thursday, August 17, 2023 for geophysical survey work.

The closure will take place from 7am to 5pm each day to allow workers to perform a geophysical survey of the saddle dike located at the boat launch. The launch will be opened for evening boating activities and closed the following morning for work to be performed. The section of trail that traverses the saddle dike will be closed to public traffic as well.

The survey work will produce detailed images of the ground formations and structure of the dike as part of the regular periodic inspections done to evaluate the health and integrity of the Corps flood risk management structures.

All other boat launches and recreation areas will be open for use during this time. Boaters looking to launch can use the State Hill Boat Launch or Sheidy Boat Launch locations.
