Human remains were discovered Sunday evening in the Flying Hills community of Cumru Township, prompting an ongoing investigation involving local, county, and federal authorities.
According to the Cumru Township Police Department, officers were called at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 28 after a person walking their dog reported finding what appeared to be human remains in a wooded area near Lakewood Drive. Police said an initial investigation indicated the remains are human, though the gender has not yet been determined.
The area was secured, and the Berks County District Attorney’s Office was requested to assist. The District Attorney’s Forensic Services Unit responded to process the scene and collect potential evidence.

Investigators said the remains were located about 20 yards off a golf cart path leading to the 18th green, between Doral Drive and Lakewood Drive in the Flying Hills community.
In a separate statement, the U.S. Marshals Service – Philadelphia confirmed that human remains were recovered in the same area and noted the location is consistent with the last known whereabouts of Travelle Martin, who fled from police in January 2025. Officials said additional testing is being conducted to confirm the identity of the remains.
Authorities emphasized that the discovery is not believed to be related to human remains found elsewhere in Cumru Township in April 2025.
Cumru Township police detectives, Berks County District Attorney detectives, and the Berks County Coroner’s Office are working together to further the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumru Township Police at 610-777-9595 or the Berks County District Attorney’s Office detectives at 610-478-7171. Police said no additional information is being released at this time.
