Kimberton Whole Foods Expands to Wyomissing

Kimberton Whole Foods, a local chain of family-owned grocery stores, announces their seventh location at The Knitting Mills, previously Vanity Fair Outlet Center, located in Wyomissing.

The 13,000 square foot grocery store and café will be their largest grocery store. This location, near the intersection of Penn Ave. and Park Rd., is rich with historic architecture, harkening to its roots as the largest full-fashioned knitting mill in the world, over a century ago.

“We are thrilled to announce that we’re coming to Wyomissing. This property gives us the opportunity to renovate an existing structure and put it to new use. It offers a prime location, walkable from the downtown area, with ample parking and floor to ceiling windows that fill the interior with natural light,” says Terry Brett, co-founder and CEO.

Kimberton Whole Foods in Wyomissing will offer a wide selection of fresh and organic produce; grass-fed meats and dairy; specialty cheeses; grocery staples; baked goods; supplements; body care; and wholesome grab-and-go meals. Customers seeking allergen-friendly, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options will find an abundant selection throughout the store. This site will also have a café serving fresh juices, smoothies, and specialty coffee.

“We’re an independent grocery store and have been since our start on Seven Stars Farm over 30 years ago. Through our relationship with the Independent Natural Food Retailer Association (INFRA), Kimberton Whole Foods is able to provide competitive prices on grocery staples and everyday essentials.”

Kimberton Whole Foods has deep connections to their local communities ranging from funding community enrichment projects; donating to organizations rooted in environmental advocacy, sustainable agriculture, arts and culture, and community services; and their Rounding Up at the Register Program.

With this program, each of their stores donates to 12 different non-profits each year, totaling 72 organizations companywide. Year-to-date Kimberton Whole Foods has donated over $160,000 to local nonprofit organizations.

“The West Reading and Wyomissing area have been of interest to us for years. With its vibrant downtown; strong sense of community; and focus on the future through the addition of institutions, such as the Drexel University College of Medicine West Reading Campus, we couldn’t imagine a better time to expand our independent business into the borough of Wyomissing. Our Operations Team is close to completing an overall design concept. We plan to begin construction in November, with the hope of opening Fall 2022” said Brett.
