An investigation is underway after a fatal shooting near Kutztown University early Saturday morning.
The shooting happened around 12:50am at the Advantage Point Student Apartments, 435 Baldy Road in Maxatawny Township, which is located near the university campus.
A preliminary investigation by Pennsylvania State Police has revealed that an altercation occurred at a party on the 5th floor. During the altercation, 18-year-old Diego Velazquez was struck by gunfire.
Velazquez was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Velazquez was not enrolled as a student at the university.
A Pennsylvania State Police public information report lists the suspect as unknown.
