One dead after domestic related road rage incident in Northern Berks, police say

One person has died and another injured Sunday evening after an alleged domestic related road rage incident in Ontelaunee Township.

According to the Northern Berks Regional Police Department, on Sunday July 16, 2023 at approximately 5:45pm, officers responded to the area of the 300 block of Snyder Road for a domestic related road rage incident. As police were enroute, they received information that there were shots fired and an individual was struck.

Police say the two vehicles involved continued north on Pottsville Pike (Route 61) at a high rate of speed, and crashed at the intersection of Routes 73 and 61, into the parking lot of the Leesport Diner, after failing to make the right turn onto Route 73.

One individual was located at the scene and was declared deceased by the Berks County Coroner’s Office. A second individual was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police say this incident is currently under investigation and there are no further details at this time.
