One injured during Thursday night shooting in Reading

A 19 year-old is in the hospital following a shooting Thursday night in the Northwest section of Reading.

Fire and EMS were dispatched to the 100 block of North Front Street on August 18, 2022, around 7:55pm, for a report of a teen male with multiple gunshot wounds to the legs.

Police on-scene say they are investigating two crime scenes that are blocks apart from each other. The first being a vehicle crash and shots fired in the 300 block of McKnight Street. Police say they recovered 12 bullet casing at the scene.

The second crime scene was located in the 100 block of Fischer Lane in the River Oak Apartments, where a car crashed into a parked vehicle.

Police did not elaborate on how both crime scenes were connected, or the sequence of event, but did mentioned the victims injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The incident is currently under investigation and no suspect is in custody at this time. Police say there is no danger to the public.
