Governor Mifflin School District Board of Directors names new Superintendent

The Governor Mifflin School District Board has announced that they plan to officially appoint Dr. Lisa Hess as district superintendent effective July 1, 2023, upon finalization of her contract.

This decision comes after an exhaustive search conducted by the school board and the superintendent search committee at both local and national levels.

Dr. Hess will be replacing the current Superintendent, Mr. Bill McKay, as of June 30, 2023. McKay submitted his intent to retire following the completion of the 2022-2023 school year to the board on September 12, 2022, which the board formally accepted at the September 19 meeting.

Dr. Hess is a 1992 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, completing the entirety of her K-12 education with the district.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education and Principal Certification from Cabrini College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Hess has worked in education for 26 years, 16 of which she has been employed by the Governor Mifflin School District. Previous roles have included English teacher, associate principal, acting principal, and Director of Teaching and Learning. She currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent.
