1 dead, 4 rescued from apartment fire in Northeast Reading

A 33-year-old man died and four others rescued after a house fire in Northeast Reading late Saturday night. Officials identified the deceased victim as Adam Weis.

Firefighters in Reading responded to a working house fire in the 900 block of Marion Street late Saturday night, October 16, 2022 around 11pm.

Arriving on-scene crews found smoke and fire coming from the residence. When searching the 2.5 end of the row home, they rescued 1 person on first floor and 1 adult and 3 children from the second floor.

Of the 5 total rescued from the building, Weis was the only one transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The fire was placed under control at 11:48pm. Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
