City of Reading announces holiday closures and service schedule changes

The City of Reading has announced holiday-related closures and service schedule changes affecting City Hall operations, waste collection, and street sweeping during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, 2025. Regular business hours will resume at 8 a.m. on Friday, December 26. City Hall will also be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, with offices reopening at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 2.

Waste and recycling collection schedules will be adjusted during both holiday weeks. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Thursday, December 25, or Thursday, January 1. During each of those weeks, all collection days will be delayed by one day, with Friday routes picked up on Saturday.

Street sweeping will also be suspended on Thursday, December 25, and Thursday, January 1.

City officials said the adjustments are necessary due to the holidays and thanked residents for their cooperation, encouraging everyone to plan ahead during the holiday season.
