City of Reading set to kick off holiday season with annual tree lighting ceremony

The City of Reading will officially welcome the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6 p.m. The celebration will take place at the southeast corner of 5th and Penn Streets in Downtown Reading.

Mayor Eddie Morán is inviting residents and visitors to gather for what has become a cherished seasonal tradition, bringing the community together in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. The ceremony also serves as a lead-in to the City’s holiday parade, scheduled for November 22.

Those attending can expect a variety of holiday-themed activities and entertainment, including live performances by local organizations such as the Reading Choral Society. Local officials will offer remarks to welcome the season, and sweet treats will be provided by Reading-based bakery La Fidelita along with other local vendors. Santa Claus is also scheduled to make a special appearance.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live on the City of Reading, PA – Government Facebook page, BCTV.org, and on BCTV MAC Channel 99 on Comcast.
