It is unclear how things will move forward. Options mentioned at the meeting included the municipalities creating their own police department or using Pennsylvania State Police.

The Northern Berks Regional Police Department is scheduled to disband in six month. The decision was approved by Commission board members Gary Hadden for Ontelaunee Township and Mayor Granville Sandridge for Leesport.

Commissioner Heidi Fiedler of Maidencreek Township was the only vote against the motion.
