Catalytic converters stolen from vehicles in Upper Tulpehocken Township

Pennsylvania State Police in Hamburg are investigating the theft of catalytic converters and other items from vehicles parked along Route 183 in Upper Tulpehocken Township.

Troopers said the theft occurred sometime between Friday, August 15, at 5:30 a.m. and Sunday, August 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the 8400 block of State Route 183 near Schubert Road. The location, leased by JD Eckman of Atglen, is being used to store construction zone equipment for the Interstate 78 project.

According to police, catalytic converters were removed from two 2024 Chevrolet vehicles. In addition, three five-gallon metal gas cans were also reported stolen.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Hamburg station at 610-562-6885 or call Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 800-472-8477. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
