Exeter Twp. Police announce discovery of partial human remains of man missing since 2015

The Exeter Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help following the discovery of two human femur bones that belong to Anthony Evan Rodriguez, who went missing in May of 2015.

21-year-old Rodriguez was last seen on May 10, in the five points area of Exeter Township, which is near the border of Alsace Township.

Over the years, Detectives say they worked many different leads in the case. In 2020, a lead brought them to a wooded area near the Exeter, Alsace Township border.

Five extensive searches were conducted over a large area with assistance from several volunteer search & rescue teams. PA Search & Rescue and Greater Philadelphia Search & Rescue both utilized cadaver dogs.

Berks County Detectives, Berks County Coroner’s office, FBI, Pennsylvania State Police and the Exeter township Fire Department also assisted in the search and investigation.

During the course of the first and second search, Detectives say two human femur bones were located 20 yards apart from one another, and later sent for DNA analysis. They were later determined to belong to Rodriguez.

Detectives say three more extensive searches were conducted covering acres of wooded areas with no further remains located.

During Monday’s press conference, Detectives said the investigation is still ongoing. “We would like to bring closure to the family of Anthony Rodriguez and we are looking for the public’s assistance” said Detective Joseph Malone of the Exeter Township Police Department.

“If anyone has any information about the disappearance of Anthony Rodriguez, please contact the Exeter Township Police Department or Crime Alerts of Berks County. Callers can remain anonymous and there could be a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to a resolution in this case.”

Detective Sergeant Rocco DeCamillo provided insight into how the department has continued its investigation over the years. “This case has been an active investigation for the last eight years now and there’s been many hands here at the police department that has passed through.”

“In the Detective Bureau, we have had detectives and supervisors retire in the last eight years. I’m the third supervisor to supervise the case. Detective Maloney is the fourth Detective to actively investigate this case” said Detective DeCamillo.
