The Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of 39-year-old Byron Boyd of Muhlenberg Township following a joint investigation into drug trafficking.
According to authorities, the Berks County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police began investigating Boyd in November 2024 after receiving information that he was allegedly involved in drug sales in both Muhlenberg Township and the City of Reading. Detectives later secured a search warrant for Boyd and his residence, issued by Magisterial District Judge Paul Leo.
The warrant was executed around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20. Investigators said they seized multiple items, including a Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun, two Taurus G2C 9mm handguns, 242 packets of crack cocaine, 14.9 grams of unpackaged crack cocaine, various drug paraphernalia, five packets of marijuana, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three cell phones, and $890 in cash. Authorities estimated the street value of the seized crack cocaine at $4,000 .
Boyd was taken into custody and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center, where he was photographed and fingerprinted. He faces charges including possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, persons not to possess firearms, and receiving stolen property .
The District Attorney’s Office noted that Boyd is awaiting a preliminary arraignment before a Magisterial District Judge. Officials stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
