Police investigating shootout that left one man wounded in southeast Reading

A 35-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning following a shooting on Mineral Spring Road, according to the Reading Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Mineral Spring Road around 8:30 a.m. on September 25, 2025, for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man was taken to Reading Hospital, where his injuries were reported as not life-threatening.

Investigators believe the victim was involved in a shootout with unknown individuals when he was struck. At this time, no suspect information is available, and authorities said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
