A second search warrant executed Monday in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sale of marijuana and THC products that exceed legal limits from local smoke shops resulted in the seizure of an additional $60,000 worth of suspected THC products, according to an update from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
The warrant was served Feb. 9 at approximately 2:25 p.m. at NYC Convenience Inc., 1142 Rockland Street, Reading, officials said.
Among the items seized during the search were:
- Approximately 400 canned drinks containing suspected THC
- 250 packets of edible gummies containing suspected THC
- 300 vapes containing suspected THC
- 400 packets of suspected marijuana (1/2 gram & 1-gram packets)
- 200 packets of pre-rolled suspected marijuana cigarettes
- Numerous Other edibles containing suspected THC
- Packaging material and scales
Authorities estimated the value of the newly seized items at approximately $60,000.
According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, Mohammed Hamood Abiah, 39, of Reading; Joshua Velez, 38 of Reading; and Aljenis Kelvin Reyes, 29, of Reading, face multiple felony counts including Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Criminal Conspiracy.
All three defendants were arraigned before Judge Priscilla Campos at the Berks County Central Processing Center. Bail was set at $45,000 for Abiah, $45,000 for Velez, and $30,000 for Reyes.
The case stems from an investigation by the Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force into the alleged sale of marijuana and high-potency THC products from smoke shops in West Reading and Reading. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
