Ian Cost, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology at Albright College, has received a $2,000 grant from the Paleontological Society to impact science education for local, underserved students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The funds will increase fossil replicas and collegial research, as well as help to develop lesson plans to teach fossils, ecology, general biology and evolution.
“The goal is to use new fossil casts in the Reading School District to do outreach about animal feeding, fossils and changes in shape across evolution,” said Cost.
Several Albright students, studying science and Spanish, will help Cost build activities in English and Spanish, as well as lesson plans and worksheets for K-8 general science teachers.
