Reading High School graduate and head girls basketball coach Rashida Suber has been inducted into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2025.
She is the first women’s basketball player from Coppin State University to receive this honor and only the seventh Coppin State player or coach to be inducted.
Suber joins four other inductees in this year’s MEAC Hall of Fame class, an honor that recognizes former student-athletes, coaches, and administrators who have made a lasting impact on the conference since its founding in 1970.
A Reading native, Suber played for Coppin State’s women’s basketball team from 2004 to 2008, helping the Eagles dominate MEAC play with a 64-6 record. She was instrumental in securing back-to-back undefeated conference seasons during her sophomore and junior years, including a 41-game win streak. Suber also led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2007 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) victory over Saint Joseph’s University.
Suber set a Coppin State record of 1,865 career points and still holds program records in field goals, three-pointers, and steals. A three-time first-team All-MEAC selection, she was named the 2007 MEAC Player of the Year and earned multiple all-tournament honors. She ranks 11th in MEAC history in career scoring and fourth in all-time three-pointers made.
After college, Suber played professionally in Turkey and Puerto Rico before returning to Reading. She was inducted into the Coppin State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.
At Reading High School, Suber remains the all-time leading scorer in both boys’ and girls’ basketball with 2,111 points. A member of the Reading High School Athletic Hall of Fame, she became head coach of the girls basketball team in 2021. Under her leadership, the team won its first Berks County championship in 15 years during the 2024-25 season, having previously reached the championship game four times since 2010. She was also named the 2025 Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.
“Rashida’s impact on Reading High School basketball is undeniable,” said J Greene, Director of Athletics at Reading High School. “As a player, she set the standard for excellence, and as a coach, she continues to inspire and develop the next generation of student-athletes. Her MEAC Hall of Fame induction is a testament to her continued dedication, skill, and leadership.”
“It’s an incredible honor to be inducted into the MEAC Hall of Fame and to be recognized alongside so many great athletes,” said Suber. “My time at Coppin State shaped me as a player and a leader, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to now give back to the game and the community that raised me.”
The 2025 MEAC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on March 13 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia, as part of the annual MEAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament.
