Olivet Boys & Girls Club presented the community with a special virtual holiday concert “Hope for the Holidays” this past weekend, December 19-20, on the organization’s website and social media channels.
The virtual concert consisted of various performances including current Olivet club members, Olivet alumni, and talented instructors from the PAL Center for the Arts Club. Performances were posted throughout the day Saturday and Sunday.
The virtual concert is part of the organization’s broader virtual programming efforts to continue to engage youth and families when in-person programming has not been possible due to the pandemic.
“We recognize that the holidays will be harder this year. Due to the pandemic, families are still struggling financially and may not be able to travel to see loved ones” said Chris Winters, President and CEO.
”Youth in the community don’t have the same opportunities to be around their peers and participate in extracurricular activities. Through this virtual concert, we want to honor our talented club members and the instructors and partnerships that make music opportunities for our youth possible.”
The virtual concert was made possible by support from the Reading Musical Foundation, Berks Arts Council, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

Winters added, ”We want to remind the community that there is hope in these challenging times and that Olivet is committed to continuing to serve youth, especially those that need us the most.”
